Although the interior is not as futuristic as the concept, I think there is something that we should not let get lost in the noise: its ability to serve travelers, travelers and nomads, and the fact that the industry as a whole is improving. to meet this requirement.

Business users and larger families are the obvious use cases to focus on first, but we are seeing indications that enthusiasts in the larger vehicle category are now starting to be catered for.
If you’re trying to predict the future of the electric car (and maybe profit from the trend, if that’s your thing), I’ll offer some of my observations and ideas about what we might expect over time.
With the price of electric cars still high, it’s absurd to expect college-aged people on a summer trip to an epic music festival to buy something like the ID. Buzz. Instead, expect early adopters of EVs to be wealthier people (and maybe their college kids, if mom and dad are very nice). You will also see people like influencers who look like enthusiasts but are actually using vans to make a profit.

The next group of EV leisure users you’ll see are people who rent them. Storage vans, vans with removable camping/glamping equipment and modified vans with e.g. Some influencers choose this option, while many people just have fun. If you want to see what most of today’s shiny new EVs will be doing 10-20 years from now, the best place to look is probably the nearest Walmart parking lot (assuming they allow camping, as many do). While many homeless travelers park RVs in Walmart parking lots for a night or two, some RVs and vans show up almost every night and may rotate between several Walmart locations to avoid attention. Today, ICE engines barely work and sometimes not at all.
When electric cars start to play the role of housing the homeless, we should expect the same. By then, the electric motor and drive system will likely still be running, but the battery pack will have lost most of its original range. Despite these shortcomings, they might be a safer alternative to today’s nearly defunct ICE vans that do the job and allow people to enjoy essentials like air conditioning.

So we can expect electric cars to cover the same distance as all vehicles. They start under the factory warranty and, carefully treated, slowly go to the market until some of them become art cars. Electric cars that cater to nomads and different types of travelers just have a slightly different path to follow.
